Sir Elton John will perform a one-off concert in Auckland next month, reports TVNZ.

It'll be the third time Sir Elton has visited New Zealand in as many years. Thousands of people braved wet weather in Taranaki last December to see the openly gay singer-songwriter's outdoor concert. The sun - and two rainbows - came out when Sir Elton took to the stage.

Along with his full band, Sir Elton will play one show at Auckland's Vector Arena on Wednesday 14 May. Tickets to the show be on sale from Tuesday 15 April at ticketmaster.co.nz.

Meanwhile, more than 200 people queued around the foyer and up the stairs at the Darwin Entertainment Centre yesterday as tickets for Sir Elton's Darwin show were released.

Some fans had folding chairs and did shifts in line while others had brought books to read during their long wait, reports news.com.au. Organisers said more than 8000 tickets had been sold by last night.
