Auckland's Lesbian Business Association (ALBA) is the latest LGBT organisation to move its events to Karangahape Road's new gay-owned venue Purple, upstairs at the Crest Hotel.

Purple, on the corner of Pitt Street, will now host ALBA's monthly networking meetings, which feature guest speakers and a chance for Auckland's lesbian business people to connect and prosper. Meetings were previously held at Diablo's on Ponsonby Road.

Established in 2000, ALBA has become an important part of the lesbian community, providing networking opportunities, and supporting lesbians and the wider community.

Also now meeting at Purple is the Gay Auckland Business Association on the first Wednesday of each month, and Flirt women's night on the firth and third Saturdays. Sunday tea dances and drag entertainer Tess Tickle's events are also held at the upstairs bar.

ALBA meets for 6pm every second Wednesday of each month, with the next meeting scheduled for 7 May.
