Auckland drag cabaret bar Finale's fundraising screening of Boy George's Taboo was embarrassingly cancelled at the last minute on Sunday 22 June.

Body Positive was informed late on Sunday that the staff from Finale would not be able to honour their commitment to host the event. GayNZ.com understands the film was lost in transit from an overseas distributor.

The event was to raise funds for Body Positive and Outtakes and both organisations had worked hard to generate interest and support. The screening had already been moved from the previous Sunday to avoid clashing with Bambi's memorial service.

Body Positive attempted to contact as many people who had purchased tickets and posted a notice in Finale's doorway, however between 30 to 40 people arrived to find the doors closed.

Finale's owners have pledged to reschedule the fundraiser for a future date.

2008's Outtakes fundraising film screenings finish tonight at Auckland's Academy Cinema, with a screening of Californian gay comedy Easy Side Story beginning at 6:15pm.
