A new website launched this month aims to keep lesbian and bi women living in West Auckland connected and informed.

Online: Westie lesbians get the Lowdown

The Lowdown includes details of events and the latest information and contact details for groups and activities out west or in central Auckland.

West Auckland has a surprisingly high number of lesbian and bi women, attracted to the area by greener surroundings and cheaper accommodation than the traditionally LGBT-popular central Auckland suburbs, says the website's creator Cissy Rock.

"We want The Lowdown to be a hub of information on the many events here for women – there's a lot going on," Rock explains.

Coffee groups, Dykes on Bikes meets, musical days and karaoke nights feature on the website's event list for September.
