A 34-year-old male has quit his role as a call-centre employee at the police's National Headquarters following allegations he pestered a male 111 caller for oral sex and used a confidential police database to browse for hook-ups with men.

The Sunday News says the man is "married with children" and he declined to speak to the paper's journalist Jonathan Marshall.

The newspaper claims police bosses were made aware of the employee's more than 15 calls to an emergency caller who had earlier rung the 111 call centre to report a domestic dispute.

During one of those calls, the 111 call-taker allegedly suggested they meet for coffee and depending on how that went possibly have oral sex afterwards.

He also repeatedly approached collegues at the call centre to ask whether they wanted to engage in oral sex, used the police computer database to source potential dates, and sent sexual text messages to other staffers, the newspaper's inquires revealed.
