The question 'How well does New Zealand's gay media serve its community?' will be addressed in a panel discussion to be transmitted on TVNZ's digital channel 7 this week.

Media savvy: Russell Brown will chair a discussion on our LGBT media

The NZ AIDS Foundation's National Campaigns Co-ordinator Douglas Jenkin, former Queer Nation Producer Johnny Givins and GayNZ.com's Content Manager Jay Bennie will discuss the topic on media commentator Russell Brown's weekly Media7 programme.

New Zealand has a wide variety of LGBT print, internet, and regional radio productions. Maori Television has their Takataapui LGBT documentary series, and Alt TV features a live gay chat show each Sunday – but no state-funded LGBT current affairs programme has appeared on Kiwi TV screens this election year, unlike in previous years.

This week's edition of Media7 will be recorded in central Auckland this Tuesday evening, transmitted on TVNZ's Freeview channel 7 through the week, made available on TVNZ's Ondemand website and also be uploaded onto YouTube.com.
