Tickets are selling well for upcoming evenings with two of New Zealand's most acclaimed dancers.
Tama Ma brings to the stage the autobiographical journey of Takataapui dancers Taiaroa Royal and Taane Mete as boys, men, teachers and dancers.
The production – on stage at Auckland's Town Hall Concert Chambers from this Thursday – revolves around the emotion, passion and the people who influenced their lives and careers. The contemporary dance performance incorporates vocal expression, music, taha wairua Maori, movement derived from Maori traditions, multi-media and theatre.
The intimate show also contains nudity, and an exploration of drag culture.
Auckland Town Hall staff say the opening night has sold out, but some tickets are still available for the other shows – including the final performance on Tuesday 14 October.
Acclaimed choreographer Douglas Wright will be holding an artist Forum after the show on Sunday 12 October.
