The Seven network – who bring us Home & Away – are playing NZ's short-lived LGBT series Kiwifruit across Australia at 12:30am on Wednesday nights.

Amanda Rees, Kevin Alexander and Matu Ngarupo – along with a pair of cackling lesbian puppets – presented the magazine-style show on TV2 in 2005 and 2006.

50 episodes were made, tackling important LGBT issues, interviewing celebrities and community leaders, and featuring several light-weight stories and skits.

The show and its "shallow" segments were widely criticized in the show's second year, and after NZ On Air research indicated that 70% of gay and lesbian audiences did not like it, the funding agency decided not to continue funding more episodes.
