Sky channel MTV NZ will screen a 24-hour selection of programming for World AIDS Day 2008 on Monday 1 December as part of MTV's ongoing HIV and AIDS Staying Alive prevention campaign.
The programming will include MTV Staying Alive: Diary of Kelly Rowland, which sees Staying Alive Foundation Ambassador Kelly Rowland chronicle her first hand experiences with young people affected by HIV/AIDS. Shot in South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania, the one hour show features intimate discussions between Kelly and young adults from around the globe, who give insights and breadth to their lives and relationships in their respective countries.
MTV NZ's World AIDS Day programming also features Xpress 2008, a show which addresses the role of men, the issues that surround males growing up including paternity, machismo, pop lifestyles and violence. From Recife (Brazil), to Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), to Bogota (Columbia) to New York City (USA), Xpress 2008 gives a voice to youth activists, immigrants, film makers, political journalists, dancers and bands to understand the position and influence of males in these different communities.
2003's Meeting Mandela: A Staying Alive special will also screen as part of the day's programming, hosted by multi-platinum recording artist Beyoncé Knowles. The 60-minute special, shot in Johannesburg, finds Mr. Mandela tackling several controversial issues facing young people today, including topics such as HIV/AIDS awareness, the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, and the oppressive military regime in Burma.

"The strong partnership that MTV has built with the Staying Alive foundation has meant that a phenomenal range of programming has been produced since its launch in 1998; this year we are proud to play 24 hours of it on our channel."
MTV NZ World AIDS Day programming will also feature MTV Staying Alive: The Untold Story, Sex Uncovered, Public Service Announcements and a variety of other shows.
MTV New Zealand's World AIDS Day programming starts at 12am on Monday 1 December and runs for 24 hours on Sky channel 60.
