Rotorua's 'rainbow bar' Shampers is relaunching this weekend in a bid to cement its place as the hub of LGBT nightlife in the Bay of Plenty.

This Saturday night from 9pm, the bar's Relaunch Party will feature shows by drag queens Miss Gloriousole and Crystal Chandelier, music by DJ Kara-Lee, and new local talent.

Shampers' website is now online, sporting the venue's new logo and event plans. An upcoming pageant called 'Miss Shampers Bay of Plenty' will crown the region's top drag talent, while movie nights, ladies hours, and a travel club are also planned.

The central Rotorua bar opened last December. "We are a fun bar with a positive attitude, say the Shampers crew.

"Shampers is a safe environment where diversity is celebrated and fun rules supreme."
