The debut of a new drag diva trio for K' Road will be an exciting fundraiser for LGBT telephone support network OUTLine NZ.
Showgirls Tess Tickle, Mimi Boiz and Tatiana Petites are joining forces as Single Lady-Boys, with shows at the Naval & Family pub each Friday night at 10:30pm and Midnight - with DJ James Leuii spinning the discs.
Opening night is tomorrow, Friday 17 April, and a gold coin donation to OUTLine NZ at the door gets you bubbles on arrival until 10pm.
OUTLine NZ's General Manager Lesley Belcham says "we're delighted to collect donations at this event as OUTLine NZ is going through a tough time as the economic recession bites."
The ongoing economic crisis has severely affected OUTLine NZ's funding. Long-time sponsors like the ASB Trust are now suspending funding rounds and reducing the amounts they can give in an effort to ensure their own survival.
"Our volunteers will be at the door, with a big smile on their face collecting any lose change you might have - big or small," says Belcham. All proceeds will go to telephone operation costs.
Tomorrow night also sees the debut of another event starring Auckland drag divas - Urban Candy at Ponsonby Road's Lot 44 is an RnB Hip Hop Soul/Funk fusion dance party with performances by Adena Dee Lite, Baby Dee and Lola Pop, with DJ's Ramon Te Wake and Leilani with guest Duskygeisha. The night starts at 9pm and goes through until late, with a $5 cover charge.
