A musician who is adored by many lesbians, Sarah McLachlan, will perform in Auckland in October.

The Lilith Fair founder is gathering up female musicians for A Taste of Lilith at the ASB Theatre on Monday 18 October. It will feature Martie Maguire and Emily Robison from Dixie Chicks in their new incarnation Court Yard Hounds, along with New Zealanders Julia Deans and Teacups.

Lilith Fair returned to the US this year after a ten year break, with 23 shows featuring a feast of female musicians.

Promoter Michael Chugg says Chugg Entertainment has wanted to bring the Lilith tour to Australasia for years and it has chosen the most intimate venues it could book.

"Anyone who has ever seen the beautiful Sarah McLachlan or members of Dixie Chicks perform in intimate, small rooms will know exactly how magical they are live – they're just sensational."

McLachlan is a Grammy Award–winning singer and songwriter who recently released her first studio album of new material in ten years, Laws of Illusion.

In the years between recording, the Canadian artist married, separated, and is raising two young daughters.

McLachlan has sold over 40 million records worldwide since her recording career began in 1988 with her debut album Touch.

For each ticket sold, A Taste of Lilith will donate $1.00 to the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
