Along with 30 cast members in a huge variety of flamboyant and outrageous costumes, the show features a scene-stealing ten-metre long Priscilla bus on stage.
Seven of the cast members appeared at the Civic last night to announce the show's Auckland season, perform a few numbers and mingle with a crowd of invited guests.
Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, the story of three fish-out-of-water drag queens travelling across the Australian outback in a worn-out bus, was an international cinema hit in 1994, and now the stage production is set to tour the world - beginning with Auckland in May, and London in 2009.
"Priscilla is a story of families… of connecting," says show producer Gary McQuinn. "Those things are in all our lives. The joy and heart of the show is just incredible."
The show includes a variety of classic disco hits including Don't Leave Me This Way, Finally, I Love The Nightlife, Colour My World, Pop Musik and I Will Survive.
Priscilla's Auckland season begins on Tuesday 27 May 2008.
