Michael, who rose to prominence as half of the pop duo Wham, had a troubled history of recreational drug use and after his death public speculation mounted regarding his cause of death and what role, if any, his lover who found him dead at home played.

An initial autopsy resulted in his death being described officially as unexplained but not suspicious.

The senior coroner for Oxfordshire, UK has now reported the Michael died from dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver.

His partner, Fadi Fawaz says he is glad the information is now public and that he can now grieve Michael's passing.
