A right-wing Christian news organisation in the USA has blundered in its attempt to remove the concept of 'gay' from its news service.

The homophobic OneNewsNow website has been using an auto-replace word processing feature to purge the friendly word 'gay' from stories it receives, inserting the more clinical word 'homosexual' instead. But their desperation to deny gay people a little joy backfired when they started running stories such as "Homosexual eases into 100 final at Olympic trials" and "Homosexual... makes Olympics."

The headlines and distorted stories have been running for some time, but only in the last few days has someone pointed out to the site's overseers that they should really use athlete Tyson Gay's real surname in their stories.

Although the site's recent stories about Gay have now been corrected, their archived stories still advise that, for instance, in a basketball match, one Kevin Love would "open things up" for a "Rudy Homosexual" in the front court." We'd have bought tickets to that match!
