New Zealand-born actress Lucy Lawless has revealed on her blog that she'll be in the last season of The L Word.

"Look for me on The L Word at some point," Lawless typed. "Can't tell you anything about that, it's deep in the closet."

The sixth and final season of Californian lesbian drama will begin on US TV network Showtime in January.

It's not the first time Lawless has played up to her lesbian fanbase – when she played Xena Warrior Princess in the 1990's, the scriptwriters added scenes and references alluding to an intimate relationship between her character and long-time travelling companion Gabrielle. After the series ended, Lawless stated that she saw the relationship between the two characters as sexual. She has since appears in gay pride events including Sydney Mardi Gras.

Melanie Lynskey, another Kiwi-born actress, appeared the most recent season of The L Word and is set to return in future episodes.
