MPs in the Australian State of Victoria yesterday voted to allow lesbians, single women and infertile couples great access to fertility treatments.

The vote in the lower house comes after a three-day debate, and the Assisted Reproductive Treatment Bill will now goes to the upper house for further scrutiny, reports the AAP.

If put into law, the Bill would mean lesbian couples are among those who would gain access to reproductive treatment. It would also give gay partners and parents of surrogate children greater parenting rights.
