A 27-year-old man from Walthamstow, north-east London, robbed a gay man at knife point and stole from several others after meeting them on the net.
Adil Zahid pleaded guilty in court to four counts of robbery and one count of handling a stolen vehicle, says the Guardian.
Judge Peter Ade sentenced him to six years' jail, saying: "You met these men intending them to believe that they were going to form some form of a connection with you. Having gained their confidence and meeting them you proceeded to rob them.
"It was a detailed ploy on your part to attract potential victims who you would have money, having believed they were going on an evening of entertainment, and who might be embarrassed to come forward because of the nature of the crime."
Zahid, who has a ten-year history of knife point robberies, ordered one of his victims at to take him to his home, where he helped himself to a laptop, stereo and other valuables. He threatened to stab the man if he did not comply.
