A Dallas high school is preventing a transgender teenager from running for homecoming queen.

Eighteen-year-old Andy Moreno was nominated by friends at North Dallas High School. She says her principal has suggested she run for king instead.

She told KDFW-TV of Dallas and Fort Worth that she feels discriminated against. Her parents and friends all say they support her bid for queen.

The Dallas Independent School District says there is no policy on the matter, so they let the principal decide.
