You may be aware that recently, GABA agreed after discussions with Nikki Kaye MP to chair a group looking at support for a potential "Mardi Gras" or larger LGBT Celebration in Auckland. The Mayor of Auckland and the new CCO ATEED have agreed to undertake an economic feasibility study. We await the outcome of that study.

As Chair of the GABA Charitable Trust, I have been asked by GABA President Glenn Sims to Chair the initial consultation meetings to facilitate any decisions or planning regarding a future direction and structure for a community based organisation for this concept to be realised.

Below is a draft agenda for this meeting which is scheduled to be held on Monday 16 May starting at 5.30PM. Location is Kamo on K'Rd.

The meeting will involve a diverse range of groups and we hope to have cross-party engagement so we have representatives from across the political spectrum at this meeting. We want this to be an open meeting so if you feel strongly about someone attending then please feel free to invite them and let me know.

A suggested agenda could be:
1. Purpose of the group
2. Membership of the group
3. Meeting schedule
4. Update on economic feasibility study
5. Options for larger LGBT celebration ( Mardi Gras, diversity parade, cultural festival etc.)
6. Relationship with Big Gay Out
7. Formation of an organisation that represents the community for the larger LGBT celebration
