As Sir Elton John took to the stage last night in New Plymouth's Bowl of Brooklands, the rainy skies cleared and two rainbows arched across the Taranaki sky.
An estimated 15,000 people sat in the damp to see their Rocket Man, many draped in blue tarpaulins.
Sir Elton took his appreciative audience on a trip down memory yellow-brick-road with his legendary hits Daniel, Honky Cat, Rocket Man, Tiny Dancer, Philadelphia Freedom, Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word, Crocodile Rock and Bennie and the Jets, among many others.
While on his brief visit, Sir Elton was gifted a specially-made Maori bird-feather cloak, in recognition of the entertainment the star has given New Zealanders and his commitment to returning to play in Aotearoa.
Last night's show was Sir Elton's one concert in New Zealand - he's now flying off to Tasmania for a performance tomorrow night.
