12.30PM: Auckland gay businessman and community benefactor Fraser Moreton has died suddenly at his New Lynn home, aged 57.

Moreton, who has for some time experienced heart problems, died of a heart attack in the early hours of Sunday morning. A close family member says Moreton felt suddenly unwell and was tended to by his partner of fifteen years, Glen Wilkin-Holland, as the fatal heart attack occurred.

Moreton was a builder until he and Wilkin-Holland bought the Purfex display and mannequin business in 1998. He attracted a number of nicknames, 'Builderboy' being replaced by 'Tractorman' when the pair purchased a farm near Helensville. The day before his death Moreton had spent "a glorious day" working on his tractor, the family member says.

Moreton, with Wilkin-Holland, has long been a generous supporter of glbt community initiatives, including the high-profile Queen of the Whole Universe NZAF fundraiser pageants. He is survived by his mother, five sisters and one brother.

His funeral and a celebration of his life will be held at St Matthew's In The City church this Thursday January 24th at 11am.
