As Minister of Archives and Libraries, Auckland Central's Labour MP Judith Tizard will cut the ribbon and play the first tape of the Charlotte Museum's new Herstory Listening Post next weekend.

At the launch of the Bronwen Dean Oral Herstory Listening Post at Auckland's museum of Sapphic Herstory on Saturday 24 May, Alison Laurie from the Lesbian and Gay Archives at Wellington's Alexander Turnbull Library will give a short address on why oral stories are important to be treasured, and afternoon tea will be served.

The Charlotte Museum's facilitator Dr Miriam Saphira explains that the listening post is named after the late Bronwen Dean, a stalwart of lesbian radio in Wellington.

"We are delighted that her estate has given us a generous donation for us to establish an Oral Herstory Listening Post in her name. I know she would have loved the idea."

The Listening Post launch event will begin at 2pm on Saturday 24 May. The Charlotte Museum is located at Unit 6, Level 2, 58 Surrey Crescent, Grey Lynn, with opening hours usually Thursday to Saturday 12-4pm.
