"I can't believe it," smiled Family bar's fa'afafine karaoke host 'Cindy of Samoa' as she won tonight's episode of TV talent show Stars in Their Eyes as her idol Tina Turner.
The singer faced tough competition from four other performers, who transformed into Alicia Keys, Bonnie Tyler, Fergie and Sir Paul McCartney. But the audience voted for Cindy singing Tina's 2003 hit Proud Mary.
"I think Tina and I are a lot alike," Cindy said on the show. "We both love to sing and perform. I just hope that I'm still going and looking good at her age."
Cindy will now appear in the Star in Their Eyes grand final, to be broadcast at 8:30pm on Tuesday 24 June, where she'll compete against four other singers for the main prize of a week in Las Vegas.
