Following the success of Hamilton's inaugural Pride Week last December, Waikato will celebrate its second full week of LGBT events beginning Saturday 27 September.

The launch evening will feature a free showing of Christchurch LGBT history documentary Rainbow Coloured Glasses, which is also being shown in Auckland and Wellington next month.

Other events planned for the busy week include tramping, a games night at Waikato Uni, a Queer Spirituality discussion, a drag on campus show, a quiz night from the Lesbian Dinner Group, a politicians' debate featuring local MPs, Queeraoke at Glamz!, a Fuckaware Party at Shine nightclub, a hot pools soak and a pancake brunch.

Shine nightclub will host a dance party on Saturday 4 October to finish the week with a bang.

Stefan Mutter of the Hamilton Pride organising committee says he's proud to help create a week which can bring the Waikato's LGBT community together.

"Hamilton is another major centre of the country and people should be aware that there is a LGBT life here," he says.

The NZ AIDS Foundation's Hamilton Gay Men's Health Promoter Geoff Rua'ine says Hamilton Pride Week has a key role in affirming safe sex messages, visibility and wellbeing for the Waikato's gay male communities "as well as celebrating and supporting the diversity of Hamilton's Rainbow communities".

Full details of Hamilton Pride Week's events are available on the official webiste linked below.
