Christchurch's newly-formed LGBT Business Association has a database of over 70 professional and business people, and regular meetings have begun, says Chairperson Jill Borland.

The association aims to promote and network members' businesses on a professional and social level with others Christchurch GLBT community, she explains.

"We also want to provide mentoring and a professional support network for young members of the Canterbury GLBT community," she says.

Monthly gatherings are being held, usually during the third week of the month, and these may include such events as business related speakers in the form of a 'Gay Chamber of Commerce', social and business networking sessions, business profile presentations, professional development workshops and dinners.

A website is currently under development which will enable members to advertise their services to other members and for business owners and the self employed to advertise to the wider community.
