Many of Rainbow Youth's regular social and support meetings are taking a break over summer, but the Auckland LGBT youth organisation's drop-in centre on K' Road will still be open three afternoons a week.

"School holidays are here and everyone's finishing up for the year, so it would be a great chance to come down and visit the Rainbow Youth Centre," says administrator Daniel Chorley. He'll be opening the Centre at 281 K' Road on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 1pm to 5pm, except in the last two weeks of December and the first week of January.

A 'working bee' is planned on Saturday 6 December to give the Centre a clean-out before a major redecorating project can begin in early 2009.

Rainbow Youth's year will end with a Christmas Party at the Centre on Friday 19 December. "Come along around 1pm for a free BBQ with lots of great food, drink, and of course sausages – veggie ones too," says Chorley. "Feel free to bring your own, we have a big old BBQ out the back that we fire up for just this kind of event!"
