Air New Zealand has scheduled its third annual Pink Flight from Auckland to Sydney Mardi Gras to lift-off on Friday 6 March 2009.

Up up and away: Air New Zealand will 'drag' Kiwis to Sydney

The party flight will again feature drag queen entertainment and treats for Kiwi passengers off to experience Sydney's 31st Mardi Gras Parade and Party.

Air New Zealand's other pink flight, from San Francisco to Sydney, will not return in 2009 however.

Mardi Gras' theme for 2009 is 'Nations United', with organisers extending a warm welcome to travelers across the world to Sydney's colourful gay celebration.

"This is a city that knows how to throw a party, but they learned it from us! No gay pride event in the world has been embraced by its local populations as much as ours. Sydney truly stops for Mardi Gras," say organizers.

The 2009 Pink Flight will arrive in Sydney the evening before the Parade and Party on Saturday 7 March.
