After a brief court appearance this morning's pre-depositions hearing was delayed until July 29  to allow police to process the new complaints and charges. The crown prosecutor has not detailed the number of new complainants or the number and nature of the charges.

Mills, who remains remanded in custody, was revealed on June 19th to be the man at the centre of gay community outrage that a 40-year old man was hooking up with younger men, and some women, and engaging in unsafe sex. A number of his sex partners have tested positive for HIV since allegedly having unprotected sex with Mills, who himself tested HIV positive in May 2007.

Gay community-based HIV testing services have noticed a marked upswing in requests for HIV testing and counseling since Mills name was released.

There was a strong media presence in court this morning, but the judge forbid any filming or photography, saying the photos taken on June 19th were sufficient for the public interest and to identify Mills to any people who might have concerns about past contact with him.

Detective Sergeant Andy King of Auckland's Adult Sexual Assault team who is heading up the investigation into Mills can be contacted confidentially on 09 302 6400.
