Bisexual electronica musician and gay icon Peaches will return to Auckland for January's Big Day Out music festival, its promoters confirmed this morning.

Here for Big Day Out: Peaches

Originally a school teacher, Canadian-born Peaches was dubbed "the respectable voice of the filthy" by the London Observer in 2006, but there is certainly no shame or ambiguity in her mix of gender politics, tongue-in-cheek vulgarity, and rock'n'roll take on electro dancefloor styles.

Peaches rocked Auckland and a sell-out show in Wellington last year with a show described as a "one-woman Kiss concert".

Lilly Allen, Muse, Fabian, Ladyhawke, Minuit, Groove Armada, Calvin Harris, Kasabian and The Mars Volta are all now also confirmed for 2010's Big Day Out on Friday 15 January at Auckland's Mt. Smart Stadium.

David Bowie and Placebo were rumoured to be among the line-up, but neither were confirmed today.

This year's Big Day Out is strictly MA15+. Tickets will be on sale from 9 October, priced at $130.
