S&M's Cocktail Lounge on Cuba Street will celebrate the bar's two-year anniversary, and there'll be drag-o-licious shows at The Garden Club's Get It On! Party this Saturday night as Wellington's two-week Proud Festival ends with a bang.

"We'll have a guest DJ, guest performers, drink specials all night long, and loads of gifts - yes, it's our birthday and we're giving you the gifts," S&M hosts Scotty and Mal tells GayNZ.com.

The birthday bash starts at 10pm and is free entry all night. Shows at 12:30am feature Wellington drag star Miss Arabia and her dancing boys.

$10 PARTY CHARGE DROPPED

The inaugural finale to Wellington's annual Proud Festival is the Get It On! Party, at the Garden Club in Dixon Street this Saturday night, which is now free to enter all night until doors close at 6am.

Originally sporting a door charge of $10, the Get It On! Party is now a fundraiser for next year's Proud Festival. GayNZ.com understands that the venue's management Wilson Hospitality Group has offered to not only waive the usual venue hire fee but also donate $1 from every drink sold during the party to Proud Festival organisers Out Wellington Inc.

"We have been overwhelmed by [venue owner] Greig Wilson's offer – he's always been supportive of the Proud events we run – and this means we can drop the $10 door charge," Out Wellington Co-chair Virginia Hopkins-Burns explains.

Drag shows at 1am and 2am will feature several of Wellington's favourite divas: Arabia, Ellie Kat, Rhubarb Rouge, Gummy Sue, and up-and-coming showgirl Nikita.

The Party is also sponsored by the NZAF's Get It On! campaign to encourage safe-sex practices and distribute condoms amongst Kiwi men who have sex with men.

"The whole Out Wellington team is looking forward to a great night out to celebrate the close of Proud 2010 – see you there," adds Hopkins-Burns.
