Christchurch's The Box all-male cruise club is for sale, with its current owners hoping a buyer will keep it going as a place for men to meet.
"We are very sad to be selling, but after almost six years it's time to do something different," its owners Marcus and Toby tell GayNZ.com.
"We have built the business up from nothing, and it's been very successful. This May the club celebrates its sixth birthday," they say. "Over the years it's become a popular place for guys to meet and play in Christchurch."
The venue originally opened in May 2004 as a small gay cinema, and a bookshop was added two years later. Due to high demand, The Box then underwent a major expansion where the venue doubled in size and became a full-on cruise club offering the biggest porn screens in the country.
The current owners say they are looking for someone to take over the business, keep it running and also take it to the next level. "The venue still has heaps of potential, there is even an opportunity for the new owner to expand the venue if they wish," they add.
"Gay businesses in Christchurch very rarely become available to buy, this is a great opportunity for the right person. All the hard work has already been done."
