Auckland's newest party night run by women for women is launching this Friday night as part of the Aroha Festival.

Happening at the Rising Sun venue on 373 K' Road, Proud Mary will feature an all-female line-up including DJ Bridge, Rebecca Maxine, MTron Bomb and Boy + Girl from Melbourne. Guest burlesque showgirl Miss Leda Petit will perform a sexy show on the night.

A well-attended opening night for Proud Mary will ensure the event regularly returns. The R18 night has a $10 cover charge.

All the single ladies

The launch of Proud Mary further heats up an already buzzing K' Road lesbian scene.

The popular Flirt nights upstairs from the Naval & Family may have ended, but new Lush parties are still packing girls into the venue each fortnight. The Auckland Lesbian Business Association also meets there on the second Wednesday evening of each month.

The venue will become a dedicated women's space next month, as London's 'Scene Queen of the Century' brings her Candy bar brand to Auckland.

Meanwhile, lesbians are in charge at K' Road's Kamo bar on the last Friday night of each month, will no cover charge.
