It will be like playing in front of a home crowd for the Topp Twins when they perform their Gay Ski Week show tonight.

The Topps' show part of a banquet of events to keep those who have descended on Queenstown busy, whether they are hitting the slopes or not this week.

It will attract a mostly gay crowd, which Jools says usually means more audience participation. “Because all the queens, they want to be seen.â€

Jools says in some ways they feel like tonight they will be playing to ‘their people'. “In a lovely way, we're at home. We're at home in a gay audience.â€

It will be interesting because I know there will be straight people there tonight. That's good. Some of our best friends are straight … we just don't want them teaching our kids,†she laughs.

She says no matter where they go or who they perform to, they don't have to change their show. “It's just what it is. It's already gay. We don't have to make it gay. We don't have to ‘unstraight' it or whatever. That's who we are and we've never been anybody else and I hope we can always be ourselves.â€

Also tonight, Miss Ribena will host Queenstown's Got Talent karaoke at SKYCITY Queenstown Casino from 9pm. Entry is free, but the event is R20.

The Topp Twins perform in the Rydges Lakeland Resort Ball Room. Doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets from www.ticketdirect.co.nz or the i-SITE at the Queenstown clocktower building.
